Fall makes San Antonio friendlier. In Travis Park, outdoor movie nights and the H-E-B Tree Lighting Ceremony draw crowds that linger well past closing. On the South Side, porches fill with pumpkins and papel picado; by late October, Halloween blends into Día de los Muertos.

Businesses notice too. Coffee shops extend hours as customers linger, and restaurants fill patios with bigger groups. “When the heat breaks, people slow down,” one local owner told the Express-News. “They talk, they laugh — they’re just happier.”

From October through December, San Antonio leans into its best qualities: warmth, welcome, and community.
