I've been to The Magpie a few times, and overall, it's a great restaurant with some exceptional dishes. The atmosphere is upscale and trendy, with a cozy vibe that makes you feel like you're in for a treat. The service is usually excellent, with friendly and attentive servers who are happy to help you navigate the menu. The food is where The Magpie really shines. The menu is designed to be shared, which is a great concept, as it allows you to try a variety of dishes and get a sense of the chef's creativity. Some of the standout dishes include the milk bread, which is a must-try, and the pork belly, which is cooked to perfection. The dak galbi is also a hit, with its spicy gochujang sauce and crispy rice cakes. However, not every dish is a winner. I've had some issues with the portions being a bit small for the price, and some of the dishes can be a bit hit-or-miss. But overall, the quality of the food is high, and the chef's creativity and attention to detail are evident in every dish. One thing to note is that The Magpie can be a bit loud, especially on weekends, and the seating can be a bit cramped. But overall, it's a great spot for a night out with friends or a special occasion. One issue that I noticed during my visits is that the restaurant can be a bit inconsistent with their service. Sometimes the servers are attentive and knowledgeable, but other times they can be a bit slow or forgetful. However, this is not a deal-breaker, and the restaurant's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses.Overall, I would definitely recommend The Magpie to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience in San Antonio. Just be prepared for some inconsistency in the service, and don't be afraid to try a variety of dishes to get a sense of the chef's creativity.
